Yesterday I gave an invited pathology grand rounds at the university of Iowa hospital. My long time collaborator Dr. Matthew Krasowski was my host, I toured the clinical labs and saw first hand how high-tech things are in clinical labs. This is the place in which blood is analyzed for pretty much everything using an automated system akin to a modern factory, controlled by computers and algorithms – with the results being deposited into their electronic medical record system. Many thanks to Jeff Kulhavy who gave me the guided tour.
I met some great folks in the University at all levels and hope to return again. I even found a nice piece of the old gothic style hospital facade complete with a dragon !
